Frequently Asked Questions
Are you able to work on multi-racial and mature clients?
Absolutely! I’ve worked with many clients for well over fifteen years. Ritual Beauty clients are diverse, with each and every person unique and beautiful in their own way. Being in the beauty industry for over 20 years has given me a vast knowledge to pull from. Any age, gender, or race would feel comfortable in my chair.
What products do you use?
I constantly update my kit with the best products. In addition, when adding any complexion or color products product to my kit, I make sure to include a range of colors suitable for every skin complexion. Some of my favorite staples include LaMer, Nars, Dior, Pat McGrath Labs, Charlotte Tilbury, Natasha Denona, Make Up Forever, MAC Cosmetics, Bobbi Brown, and Laura Mercier, just to name a few.
Do I need to schedule a preview appointment prior to the wedding or event?
It is highly recommended to schedule a preview for your wedding makeup. Even if you fully trust me as a makeup artist, it's a good idea to do a test run. That way you can try all the things you might not have thought to do on the day of & we can ensure that your makeup will hold up on your specific skin type. Preview appointments are also the perfect time to get to know each other, as all of our interactions between booking & before your wedding are over the phone, video chat or email!
Do you have services for hair?
Hair services are an add-on option only. Please let the makeup artist know you are interested in this service, when requesting for an appointment.
For more intricate hairstyles, I will be happy to recommend a hair salon, or refer you to a hairstylist who may be able to travel to you for your appointment.
What if there is a need for a cancellation?
I understand that situations may arise—especially with the current pandemic. If there is a need for a cancellation, please give the makeup artist a minimum of 48 hours notice if you need to reschedule your appointment for any reason. Rescheduling dates are subject to availability. Clients may reschedule their appointment once, without incurring a fee, if rescheduled within 30 days. Additional rescheduling afterwards will require an additional 30% retainer fee. Any cancellations without rescheduling within 48 hours before the appointment date will incur a 50% fee.
Why do you charge travel fees?
The primary purpose for additional travel charges is to keep prices down for every client. Base prices would be easily trippled, if a flat rate were to be used instead. In addition, travel charges provide adequate compensation. Trips around Tokyo typically take over an hour each way, and carrying over 36kg/80lbs of fragile, expensive makeup, tools, lighting and equipment around the city can be quite physically demanding.
Are you vaccinated (Covid)?
Yes, I am up to date on initial and current booster vaccinations.
I am a private person, and don’t want to appear on social media, such as Instagram and Facebook. Is it possible not to post my photos?
At the moment, only clients who agree to photos and images being used are given priority for appointments. As a business whose work is visual, photos and images from sessions are only occasionally used on my portfolio (Instagram and website). I am highly selective, and not all photos and images are used. If the session involves any promotions (such as complimentary lash or airbrush upgrades, discounts, or charity makeovers) I can not accommodate this request. I would like to note that when clients accept complimentary upgrades, discounts, or charity makeovers, I reserve the right to display all images in my portfolio or publication.
